SENTIMENTAL items including jewellery belonging to a man’s late wife has been stolen by burglars who removed a window pane to get into a house.
Police today appealed for information following the break-in in Dronfield Woodhouse.
Officers said the property, in Northern Common, was targeted by intruders who removed the beading and glass from a rear window to break in.
The offenders searched the house and made off with a range of items including jewellery and a man’s gold signet ring with the initials ‘FM’ inscribed on it.
Golf clubs, and a quantity of both sterling and foreign cash, were also among the items taken.
The burglary, which took place during the day last Tuesday, was discovered after the homeowner returned from visiting friends and found the door to his property already unlocked.
He went inside and saw kitchen drawers had been searched untidily - and then he spotted the missing double glazing window pane.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “Did you see anyone acting suspiciously in the area?” Witnesses, or anyone with information, should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
