The Post Office is proposing to move to a new branch in Thorpe Hesley, 300 metres away from the existing branch.
Bosses want to move to Gills Top Shop, Upper Wortley Road, and are now inviting customers to give their comments on the idea in a six-week public consultation period.
Opening hours at the proposed new branch would be 9am to 9pm Mondays to Saturdays.
Post Office Regional Network Manager for Central England Adrian Wales said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in the area and we are confident this new modern branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services.
“The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new style branches.”
