Police name South Yorkshire cyclist killed in crash

A SOUTH Yorkshire cyclist who was killed in a collision with a car has been named by police.

Maria Micklethwaite, 36, from Carlton, Barnsley, was killed when her bike was involved in a collision with a Ford Focus on Slack Lane, in South Hiendley, near Wakefield, at around 3.25pm last Friday.

An inquest into the incident is due to open in Sheffield later this week.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the West Yorkshire Police Major Collision Enquiry Team on non-emergency number 101.
