Police Appeal: Man knocked out with one punch - CCTV VIDEO
WATCH this CCTV video to help South Yorkshire police find the man who knocks out his victim with just one punch.
The 35-year-old suffered a broken jaw and head injuries after falling backwards and banging his head on the floor.
He underwent surgery and was detained for several days in hospital but he is now recovering from his ordeal at home.
Detectives today released CCTV footage in attempt to trace the attacker who struck outside Doncaster railway station.
The victim, a local man, had approached the station entrance near the Frenchgate Centre and was crossing the station car park when he was struck.
A man, who had been walking close to him, turned and punched him in the face.
Det Con Ian Grice, the officer investigating the incident, said the area was busy at the time - around 5.45pm - and he hopes people who saw the attack, or know who is responsible, will help police find the attacker.
It happened on Thursday, December 29.
DC Grice said: “This was a violent unprovoked assault on a man who was simply walking to the station to catch a train home.
“As the footage shows the station car park and surrounding area was very busy at this time of the assault and I’d appeal for anyone who may have witnessed this nasty incident or who may know who is responsible to come forward and help police with their investigation.
“The victim fell to the floor and banged his head. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from a fractured jaw and head injuries.
“He remained in hospital for a few days while he underwent surgery before returning home to recover from his ordeal.”
The attacker is described as white, around 6ft, with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and blue denim jeans.
He was also carrying a black and white JD Sports drawstring bag over his shoulder.

I'm no Sherlock Holmes but even I can see from the CCTV that there is obviously some discussion going on before the victim is hit, also, he is not 'walking to the station to catch a train' he is walking away from the station in the direction of the bus station. There is obviously more to it, that said, it is a horrific crime!

Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 01:25 PMThere was another incident like this recently where the victim died. Attacks like this must be treated as attempted murder. More camera's, more policing and stiffer sentencing for these brutal thugs is required. Zero Tolerance for Violence. Great right hand, no, cowardly sucker punch.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 03:37 PMTo bonks- how can you possibly comment on here, making spurious allegations and slander, disparaging against the innocent victim of this horrific crime? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at 11:24 AMRaggydoll2, do you notice how your final sentence contradicts yourentire comment? As for the guy approaching, we cannot tell his demeanour, however, if somebody approached me in any way that made me suspicious of their intentions, then put their hands in their pocket, I may suspect a knikeweapon. If this is an 'honestly held belief@ a single punch is allowed in law, its calle pre-emptive. Check it out. PS, I am not saying it was the case here, just like everybody else without the context I cannot judge.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 09:05 AMIt doesn't matter what was said before, it can't have been bad because the guy who gets punched has his hands in his pockets. He wants locking up for 6 months!

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 02:08 AMIt does actually appear from the video that the victim approached the attacker, and not how it is described in the report. But, nevertheless, this footage is socking to say the least and this guy needs to be caught and face the consequences of his actions.

Monday, January 16, 2012 at 07:57 PMWhat kind of world do we live in? How can it be ok to knock a person out cold and walk off to continue your day as if you'd merely given them a kiss. I hope he's caught but chances are it'll be a slap on the wrist. Maybe if judge could punch him and break his jaw he might realise the consequences of lashing out. No circumstance justifies extreme violence.

Monday, January 16, 2012 at 04:03 PMAfter studying this clip carefully, I'm under the impression the man who was punched had got involved in some altercation with his asailant. Not deffending the actions in any way - absolute vile behaviour, but quite a bit appears to have been said prior to the attack. The police need to intensify their investigations with all concerned i.m.o.
