POLICE have made a fresh appeal to trace a car driver who failed to stop after a serious crash on a country road near Tickhill, Doncaster.
They hope the public can provide information about a black hatchback, which is believed to have overtaken a Citroen Picasso before it collided with another vehicle on the A60 last Friday evening
Police would also like to locate the driver of a dark coloured Land Rover Freelander, or similar vehicle, which stopped briefly at the scene on Worksop Road, at the junction of the access to Stoney Brigg Farm.
Four people were injured in the collision involving the Picasso and a blue Peugeot 206 driven by a 37-year-old man from Carlton-in-Lindrick.
His passenger, a 35-year-old man also from Carlton-in-Lindrick, sustained life threatening injuries, a fracture to the spine and a bleed on the brain.
The grey Picasso driven by a 75-year-old man from Conisbrough, was travelling in the opposite direction to the Peugeot when the black hatchback overtook it and pulled back onto the correct side of the road.
“It is believed the actions of the hatchback has caused a reaction from the Peugeot, which has reportedly lost control and gone sideways across the road and into the path of the Picasso,” said a police spokesman.
Police believe the black hatchback was travelling from Oldcotes at the time of the collision.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the vehicle or witnesses to the collision should call police on 101 quoting incident 690 of January 25.
