Police promote home security

police will be visiting the village of Abney, near Eyam, offering cut-price home security items.

Officers will take a mobile police station to the village on Wednesday, February 6, as part of Operation Illuminate, which aims to reduce the risk of burglary over the winter months and darker nights.

Discounted safety products, including shed alarms, indoor light bulbs, outdoor light bulbs, timer switches and door chimes will be available to buy.

They are also available at police stations across the Derbyshire Dales and at Derbyshire Dales District Council offices.

Police will also be encouraging members of the public to sign up to Derbyshire Alert, a free messaging service that keeps residents up to date on advice, crime and policing issues in their area.
