A man who died in a shooting incident in his home has been named by police.

Paul White, aged 37, was found dead in his terrace house in Galway Road, Bircotes, near Doncaster, in the early hours of last Friday.

Police believe he shot his 33-year-old partner, Shani Cockrell, before turning the gun on himself.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Mr White died as a result of a gunshot injury.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

“Detectives are satisfied that the woman was the victim.”

Miss Cockrell, who was at home with her two young sons, aged two and four, when she was shot, remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

Detective Inspector Ash Wilson, who is leading the police probe into the death, said: “This incident has left the families of the people involved devastated.

“Officers are supporting both families at this time.”
