Police in Doncaster are renewing appeals for help to trace a stolen van containing a large quantity of rat poison after it was involved in a crash yesterday.

The red LDV Pilot van hit a lamppost on Meadow Croft, Edenthorpe, at 1.30pm but several minutes later the driver, a young male, drove off.

The van, which has the registration plate BX05 JDO, was stolen from the village of Sutton just before 8pm on Wednesday, January 8.

It contained seven to eight kilograms of hazardous, three-inch-long waxed pellets, some of which were blue and some pinky-red, but all corrugated in appearance. The pellets, in tubs marked `poison,’ have not yet been found.

Anyone who has seen the vehicle or its contents is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police immediately on 101 and quote incident number 1023 of January 8.
