Pedestrian hit by black cab in Sheffield

A MAN was taken to hospital with a fractured skull after he was struck by a black cab on a Sheffield road.

The 35-year-old, from Mexborough, stepped into the path of a black London Taxi travelling along St Mary’s Gate in the city centre on Monday, at about 11.45pm.

Police said the pedestrian emerged from the central reservation as the cab was travelling towards the Bramall Lane roundabout from the direction of Ecclesall Road.

It is believed the pedestrian was using his mobile phone at the time of the collision.
