Pedestrian, 86, knocked down by car driver aged 93

A pedestrian aged 86 is fighting for life in hospital - after being knocked down by a motorist aged 93.

The 86-year-old man was crossing Dransfield Road, Crosspool, when he was hit by a red VW Polo driven by a 93-year-old man. A police spokesman said: “The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and is detained at the Northern General Hospital. The driver of the VW was not injured.”

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision at 5.10pm on Thursday.
