Parking charges may rise

CAR parking prices in Doncaster are expected to go up, as the council battles a £26million funding black hole.

The draft budget suggests increasing the cost per car by 10 pence per hour from £1.20 to £1.30 in DMBC car parks such as those at the Colonnades, markets and Chappell Drive - a hike of 7.5 per cent - which could bring in an extra £60,000 in the next twelve months.

Meanwhile, on-street parking charges will also go up - rising from £2 to £2.40 - bringing the charges into line with those across the whole of the town centre. Existing fees for council staff permits - £360 - and public permits - £700 - will remain.
