An 86-year-old pedestrian is fighting for life in hospital after he was involved in a collision in Crosspool last night.

The man was crossing Dransfield Road at 5.10pm last night when he was hit by a red VW Polo driven by a 93-year-old man.

A police spokesman said: “The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and is detained at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. The driver of the VW was not injured.”

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone who was in the Dransfield Road area between 5pm and 6pm last night should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 858 of February 13.
