North gears up for debate

City leaders are set to be grilled by residents in the north of Sheffield.

The area’s Cabinet in the Community event, which sees councillors take part in a debate modelled on the BBC’s Question Time, is set to take place on Wednesday, March 19.

Paces Campus in Pack Horse Lane, High Green, has been chosen as the venue for the meeting, which kicks off at 6pm.

The north’s event will focus on health and wellbeing and is set to discuss the plans for a new swimming pool in the area, designed to replace Chapeltown Baths.

Coun Julie Dore, leader of Sheffield Council, said: “We want to hear from local people about the things that are affecting them most.

“We hope that as many people as possible will use the sessions as a way of engaging in democracy at a local level.”

Members of the public are invited to submit questions ahead of the event, though they will be able to turn up and ask them on the night.
