NEWS IN BRIEF: Turn over new leaf with tree planting

NATURE lovers can take part in a tree transplant at Moss Valley Woodlands, Sheffield from 10am until 3pm on Wednesday.

The event, organised by Sheffield Wildlife Trust, is part of a series of environmental taster days which will be followed with a ring-barking and felling day on Monday, November 26. Call 0114 263 4335 to register interest and find out the meeting point.

Skip arson blaze

A SKIP was set alight in Shakespeare Street, Holmwood, Chesterfield. The blaze broke out at around 12.50am on Sunday. Police and fire crews were called out to the incident, which is believed to have been deliberate.

Musical lunchtime

A PAIR of acclaimed instrumentalists will make sweet music together in a concert at Sheffield Cathedral. Violinist Aliza Vicente and pianist Christopher Atkinson will perform in a free lunchtime recital at 1.15pm on Friday.

Car set on fire

A SALOON car went up in flames in The Avenue, Dronfield, Derbyshire at 2.46am on Sunday. Firefighters extinguished the blaze before calling police out to the incident.
