Smoke billowing from boiler room

FIREFIGHTERS were called to Sheffield University’s Dainton Building on Western Bank after smoke was spotted at 12noon yesterday. When crews arrived they discovered smoke in a boiler room.

In Pitsmoor, Sheffield, fire crews were called to reports of a kitchen fire on Malton Street. The occupant of the property had burned some food at 1pm yesterday.

Rubbish set ablaze

A PILE of household rubbish left on a Sheffield street as part of a community ‘bring out your rubbish day’ was set alight in an arson attack. The fire on Ellerton Road, Firth Park, was discovered at 2.30am yesterday.

Firefighters were also called to a bin store blaze on Blackstock Road, Gleadless Valley, at 8pm on Monday.

House shooting

A HOUSE was shot at on Tipton Street in Wincobank, in what police say was a ‘targeted’ attack. Nobody was injured in the early hours of Sunday, and police patrols have been stepped up.

Weapons seized

A STUNGUN, cash and drugs were seized from a man arrested by police in Swinton, Rotherham. Firearms officers from South Yorkshire Police were involved in the operation on Friday.

Safety patrols

POLICE spent yesterday patrolling Eastwood in Rotherham looking for cars and homes left insecure. Officers are trying to reduce the number of homes broken into.

Nuisances tackled

OFFICERS carried out patrols on the Littledale estate in Darnall, Sheffield, on Monday night in a crackdown on anti-social behaviour and criminal damage.

Car set on fire

A MERCEDES A Class car found burning in Stubbing House Lane, Birley Edge, Sheffield, had been set alight deliberately at 12.30am yesterday.
