Stargazing session at Mayfield centre

Sheffield Astronomical Society is hosting a session as part of the BBC’s Stargazing Live initiative on Saturday from 7pm at Mayfield Environmental Centre, David Lane, Fulwood.

Rubbish set ablaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a pile of industrial rubbish set alight on the Thorncliffe industrial estate, Chapeltown.

The fire was discovered at 9.55pm on Sunday.

Chimney fire fight

A CHIMNEY fire took almost three hours to put out by firefighters who were called to the blaze at a house on Lightwood Lane, Norton, Sheffield, at about 10.30am on Saturday.

Spate of arsons

ARSONISTS set fire to a portable building at Tata Steels, Aldwarke Lane, Rotherham, and wheelie bins on Pollard Crescent, Parson Cross, both on Saturday, and a street bin on Clayton Hollows, Waterthorpe, on Thursday.

FIRE crews were called out to an extractor unit in the kitchen of a house on Brunswick Road, Burngreave, Sheffield, at 6.45pm on Sunday.
