Arsonists strike at separate houses

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with two arson attacks on houses in South Yorkshire.

Fires were started in the conservatory of a bungalow on Old Road, Smithies, Barnsley, at 6.30pm on Saturday and in a ground floor flat on Exeter Drive, Broomhall, Sheffield, at 12.30pm on Sunday.

Door forced in raid

BURGLARS raided a house on Morland Road, Gleadless Valley, after forcing open a balcony door. Police are investigating the break-in, between Thursday and Friday.

Crime debate date

POLICE are holding a public meeting to discuss crime and disorder at Parson Cross Library Learning Centre, Wordsworth Avenue, on Tuesday, January 15, at 6pm.

Garage is gutted

A GARAGE went up in flames after a box used to store electricity cables, batteries and chargers caught fire.

Firefighters were called out to the incident at 3.30am yesterday.
