Concert to aid Lost Chord charity

The annual carol concert at which The Sheffield Singers perform is being staged at St Mary’s Church, Tickhill, on Thursday, December 20, at 7.30pm.

Ella Taylor, who is BBC Radio 2’s Choir Girl of the Year, will be performing with Darius Battiwalla playing the organ. Rachel Copley will be the conductor and Sue Morton is reading festive lessons

Admission to the concert is £7 and money raised will benefit Lost Chord, which provides musicians to perform at care homes and day centres for those suffering with dementia.

Eighties revival

The Ultimate Christmas Party Night comes to The Dome on Saturday, December 22, with tribute acts performing songs from the Eighties, including hits from Duran Duran, Madonna, Human League, Cyndi Lauper, Aha, Culture Club, Wham! and Kim Wilde.

Doors open at 6.30pm and tickets costs £22.

Members of Epworth Town Council are to look at the issue of electronic recording of their meetings after it was agreed the clerk could not minute every word that was said by councillors.

Christmas disco

The Methodist Schoolroom in Northgate, Tickhill, is the venue for a Christmas Disco on Wednesday, December 19, for youngsters aged eight to 16. It runs from 5pm to 7pm.

More time needed

Tesco has lodged an application to extend their planning permission for a new superstore to replace the existing supermarket on Church View, which was first granted three years ago.

Road closure

Carriageway repairs this week on Sheep Bridge Lane, Rossington, will mean the south-bound carriageway will be closed to traffic between 3am and 5am tomorrow and Wednesday.

Carol service

The ladies of Bawtry Women’s Guild will be raising their voices at the annual carol service being held in the town’s Methodist Church later today.

Brass and songs

Rockingham Brass Band and Barnburgh Village Singers are performing outside St Peter’s Church, Barnburgh, on Wednesday, at 6.30pm.
