Arson attack guts empty apartment

ARSONISTS gutted an empty flat in Sheffield in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The fire happened at a ground-floor flat on Club Garden Road, Sharrow, and was started in the living room at around 12.45am.

Nobody was in the flat at the time, and the blaze did not spread to neighbouring properties.

Moped set ablaze

A MOPED was set on fire on wasteland off Wynmoor Crescent, Brampton, Rotherham.

The burning moped was put out by firefighters from Dearne station at around 10.15pm on Tuesday.

A crew from Elm Lane station was called to a van set alight on Droppingwell Road, Kimberworth, less than two hours later at midnight.

Volunteers sought

POLICE in the Peak District are looking for volunteers to take messages, update records or put up posters and give out leaflets.
