Candles blamed for blaze at flat

FIREFIGHTERS were called out to Exeter Drive, Broomhall, Sheffield, after a fire broke out when candles were left unattended.

The blaze was reported at 8.20pm on Sunday.

Prize band concert

WOODHOUSE Prize Band is holding a Christmas concert at St James Church, Woodhouse, on Friday, December 7, from 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £4 and can be bought on the night or by calling 0114 2451142.

Green machine

A LEAN, green machine is taking to the roads to help a council become more environmentally-friendly.

Barnsley Council has received grants of £21,000 for the Citroen C-Zero.

Teen girl robbed

A GIRL, aged 14, was threatened and had valuables stolen during a street robbery in Sheffield.

She was targeted on Anns Road, Lowfield, Sheffield, last Thursday. Police are investigating.

Car pinched

A CAR was stolen from Jordanthorpe View, Jordanthorpe, Sheffield, after the house it was parked outside was broken into.

Anyone with information about the theft overnight last Wednesday should call 101.

House broken into

POLICE are investigating the burglary of a house on Kirkstall Road, Sharrow, Sheffield.

The offender sneaked in through an unlocked door last Thursday, a force spokesman said.

Crossing points

TWO new crossing points are being built on Psalter Lane, Nether Edge, to help elderly residents at the nearby Southcroft Care Home.
