New South Yorkshire police commissioner meets the public

SOUTH Yorkshire’s new Police and Crime Commissioner has announced dates of his public surgeries for the next three months.

Shaun Wright, who was elected in November, will meet the public every fortnight to hear their issues.

The first surgery will be held at the Victim Support office, Paradise House, Paradise Street, Sheffield, tomorrow from 10.30am to noon.

On February 9 his surgery will be at Rotherham Town Hall, 11am to 12.30pm.

A surgery will be held at Barnsley Town Hall on March 2 between 10.30am and noon, and another in the Civic Offices in Doncaster on March 16, 10.30am to noon.

Commissioner Wright said: “I have based my entire approach on listening to the public to appreciate and understand their issues. In my many conversations with the people of South Yorkshire the key messages seem to be similar - a need to feel and be safer. I hope people take the opportunity of dropping in to one of my surgeries.”
