New cadet role for police chief

Police chief Tim Hollis is returning to South Yorkshire to head up the Army Cadet Force.

Mr Hollis, who is due to retire from policing at the end of March after eight years as Humberside Chief Constable, has been appointed Honorary Colonel of the Army Cadet Force for South Yorkshire and Humberside.

Mr Hollis, a former Parachute regiment officer, said: “Having spent the first three years of my public service in the British Army, it’s rather gratifying to return to the military after 35 years of policing.

“Having now served for a total of 16 years in South Yorkshire and Humberside Police, it will be satisfying to retain a link with both areas in my new role. I look forward to working with the Army Cadet Force permanent staff and volunteers.”
