Man shot in Sheffield on New Year’s Day

A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after being shot in Sheffield in the early hours of today police have revealed, writes Claire Lewis.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, turned up at Sheffield Children’s Hospital for treatment at 4.55am with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

He was transferred to the Northern General Hospital for treatment and police were alerted.

Detectives investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting sealed off part of London Road this morning, where they believe the incident took place.

The road is closed between Boston Street and Hill Street.

Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 737 of January 1.
