A man has been jailed after travelling to South Yorkshire to meet a 12-year-old girl who he groomed online and persuaded to meet him for sex.
Liam Sycamore, aged 20, met the girl in an online chatroom in April 2011.
Police said he pretended to be younger to befriend her, and was aware of her age.
Indecent images were also later discovered on his computer by police.
Sycamore, from Cleveland in the north east of England, pleaded guilty to rape and sexual activity with a child at Sheffield Crown Court.
He was jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Detective Constable Gareth Gent said: “I would urge all parents to speak with their children who use the internet and keep them safe by telling them not to give out personal information to people they do not know.”
