A PIZZA-LOVER from South Yorkshire has been jailed after trying to pay for a fast-food delivery with counterfeit cash.
Nathan McEvoy, from Windermere Court, North Anston, was jailed for a total of eight months at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court after admitting two charges of using forged £20 notes and one of possessing some.
The court heard the 22-year-old told police he had bought eight forged £20 notes for £10 each, knowing they were fake.
He told police two of the notes were passed to a pizza shop in Dinnington in exchange for the delivery of pizza last month.
PC Mick Fletcher said: “This type of offence undermines the economy. The courts can only pass a strong deterrent when assessing the length of the sentence.”
