Man in court after Sheffield New Year shooting

A THIRD man has appeared in court charged with possessing a gun after a teenager was shot in a Sheffield suburb.

Micha Thompson, aged 24, of Westfield Southway, Westfield, Sheffield, is charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence following the shooting of the man on the early hours of New Year’s Day in Halfway.

Thompson appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court yesterday where the case was adjourned to Sheffield Crown Court and Thompson was remanded in custody.

Also charged in connection with the incident are Raymond Swindells, aged 29, and 27-year-old Stuart Hurst, both from the Halfway area.

Swindells is charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possessing an offensive weapon and affray.

Hurst is charged with possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence, possessing a firearm whilst prohibited and affray.

Police were called at 3.05am on New Year’s Day after the 18-year-old was found with serious injuries oin Halfway Gardens.
