The Lord Mayor of Sheffield visited a housing development in Shiregreen to check on its progress.

Coun Peter Rippon was invited by Sanctuary Group to its £700,000 scheme in Ecclesfield Road, to see five affordable homes being built.

He toured the site and took a closer look at plans for the development, due to be completed in the autumn.

Coun Rippon said: “I am delighted that work has started on this development. It further strengthens the council’s partnership with Sanctuary Group and will broaden the level of affordable housing available in the Shiregreen area.

“The homes will complement developments planned for the former Woolley Wood School and Papermill Road sites, which we are looking forward to being completed.”
