WORKERS with Sheffield Council contractors should also receive a ‘living wage’, opposition Green Party councillors have urged.
The authority’s cabinet has agreed to bring in a living wage of £7.20 an hour, calculated according to the basic cost of living, instead of the £6.19 statutory minimum wage.
Jon Ashe, Sheffield Green Party chairman, said: “A good next step would be to ensure people working for council contractors get a living wage.”
