Jealous Sheffield dad threatened ex-partner with knife

A JEALOUS dad held a knife over his ex-partner and threatened to kill her during a terrifying attack at her home in Sheffield.

Sean Harrison, aged 26, pulled Chelsea Oades around by her hair and warned he would ‘smash her face in’ after flying into a rage at her house in Beighton.

Sheffield Crown Court heard Harrison brandished the kitchen blade while Chelsea lay screaming on the floor and their son, then four months old, was in the room at the time.

Chillingly, he told her: “I’m going to kill you – I’m going to take us all.”

The court was told Harrison turned violent when he learned Chelsea had bought a new mobile phone – and became paranoid she was cheating on him.

Harrison has now been locked up for 18 months and banned from contacting Chelsea for five years.

Zaiban Alam, prosecuting, said Harrison and Chelsea met up on January 4 last year at Crystal Peaks shopping centre, and went back to her home nearby so their son could see his dad.

But at the house he flew into a rage after discovering she had bought a new mobile.

Ms Alam said Chelsea was ‘frightened and worried’ what Harrison might do to her. He backed her into a corner in the bedroom before briefly letting her go and she ran downstairs.

She added: “He grabbed her by her hair and pulled her around, and dragged her by the ankle around the living room.

“She pleaded with him to let her go. He went into the kitchen momentarily and returned carrying a large kitchen knife which he held aloft. He said, ‘I’m going to kill you, I’m going to take us all’. She screamed hysterically.”

Ms Alam said Harrison threw her new BlackBerry against the wall, smashing it into pieces, then dropped the knife to the floor before leaving the house.

Nathan Moxon, defending, said: “He is remorseful.”

Sentencing, Judge Robert Moore said: “You have repeatedly treated your partners or immediate ex-partners with jealous rages.

“This is so serious only a substantial immediate custodial sentence is justified.”

Harrison, of Atherton Road, Arbourthorne, admitted common assault, as well as breaching a non-molestation order and suspended sentence.

He was handed a five-year restraining order banning him from contacting Chelsea or going within 100 yards of her home, and must make childcare arrangements through a solicitor.
