Inquests have opened into the deaths of three generations of a family - including a baby and her two young brothers – who perished in a tragic house fire.
Fire and police investigators are still examining the cause of the blaze on Wake Road, Nether Edge, in the early hours on Monday and their probe is to continue into next week.
The Sheffield inquests were told emergency services were called to the house and crews found grandmother Shabina Begum, 53, and 20-year-old Anum Parwaiz - aunt to the children - inside.
Neighbours have said Shabina initially escaped the inferno but went back inside to try to save her family.
They were taken outside, where they were pronounced dead at the scene at 12.50am.
Adyan Parwaiz Kayani, aged nine, his seven-year-old brother Amaan, and their baby sister Minahil, were all taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where, despite the efforts of medics to revive them, they were pronounced dead between 1.06am and 1.20am.
Coroner Christopher Dorries adjourned the inquest for further inquiries.
Police said a cordon will remain in place around the family’s house over the weekend as investigations continue, although the road has been reopened.
Police officers are also remaining in the area to support the local community.
Sheffield District Commander David Hartley said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of those who tragically died.
“Our thoughts are also with the local community, who are not only struggling to come to terms with this terrible tragedy but who have had to deal with disruption over the past few days due to the ongoing investigation.”
