Hunt for house raider launched

POLICE are hunting a burglar who broke into a house in Sheffield and stole cash and a mobile phone.

The thief took the items from a property on City Road on Saturday afternoon after raiding the kitchen, living room and attic.

A house on Holmhirst Road, Woodseats, was also broken into when a door was smashed last Thursday.

The same night a house on Carter Knowle Road was raided when a door was left unlocked, and the night before a property on Westwick Road, Beauchief, was broken into when a window was forced.

Meanwhile, a woman fought off a would-be robber who tried to grab her handbag as she walked along Sheffield Road, Chesterfield.

The offender approached her from behind at 8pm on Monday. There was a struggle, but the woman managed to keep hold of her bag.
