The coroner in charge of the new Hillsborough inquests has said next year’s hearings will take place at a Warrington business park.
Fresh inquests into the 1989 disaster will be held in an office building on the park.
A spokesman for Lord Justice John Goldring said: “The venue for the hearings will be 305 Bridgewater Place, Birchwood Park.”
The decision to hold the inquests in Warrington was welcomed by campaigners – the Cheshire town is a 30-minute drive from Liverpool where many families will travel from next spring, while both the current Independent Police Complaints Commission and criminal probes into the disaster are based in Warrington.
The inquests into the deaths of 96 Liverpool Football Club fans, who died during or after the 1989 FA Cup semi-final after being crushed on the terrace at Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough Stadium, will begin on March 31, 2014.
