A woman who died after a collision with a lorry in Barnsley has been named by police.

Leonie Louise Davies, aged 25, was walking along Pontefract Road, Lundwood, on Friday when she was involved in the crash with a white Renault articulated lorry at around 5.15am.

She was taken to hospital for treatment but died hours later.

Police said it was thought she was walking with a man and a woman when the crash happened.

The incident occurred at the junction of Wycombe Street.

South Yorkshire Police are asking anyone who saw the three people walking in the area at the time, or anyone with information, to contact them.

The force also want to hear from anyone who may have seen the lorry driving in the lead-up to the collision.
