Health and safety probe after teen’s accident

A health and safety investigation has begun after an 18-year-old was badly injured in an industrial accident at a Sheffield business yesterday.

Police and ambulance services were called to Yorkshire Wastecare – known as YWC – at Ecclesfield Industrial Estate off Station Road, Ecclesfield, at 9.13am.

A young man, thought to be aged 18, injured his arm in an industrial machine at the site and had to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for the Health And Safety Executive confirmed it went to the business and has opened an investigation into the accident.
