Head on collision in Rotherham leaves two in hospital

A pensioner was injured in a head-on crash on a South Yorkshire road.

The 70-year-old woman, from Tickhill, was driving a silver Honda Jazz along the A631 Tickhill Road, Maltby, Rotherham, when she was involved in a collision with a white Citroen Picasso, being driven by a 38-year-old man from Maltby.

The pensioner suffered a broken pelvis and broken ribs, while the other motorist broke an ankle.

Both were taken to hospital.

Emergency services were alerted to the smash at 3.30pm yesterday.
