A Sheffield woman has been revealed as one of the Green Party’s biggest financial supporters.
Heather Hunt, of Meersbrook, gave £50,000 to Sheffield Green Party and £100,000 to the national party.
Coun Rob Murphy, Green Party councillor for Sheffield Central, said: “I know Heather, although not that well.
“She is just a keen supporter and we are happy to take donations from individuals rather than big corporate organisations.”
Ms Hunt’s donation was revealed in the latest register of donations to political parties over the last three months.
The figures also show the Conservative Party took almost £3.8m in donations during the last three months from wealthy individuals and groups including shopping centre owner Westfield.
Labour saw its receipts from the unions fall to just over £2m, which is £500,000 lower than the previous quarter.
Party leader and Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband has faced criticism by some unions.
