Sheffield’s water quality has not been affected significantly by kerosene fuel spilling into the River Don following a waste management plant fire, Environment Agency bosses have said.

Officials have been monitoring the river since the blaze at Frogson Waste Management on Douglas Road on July 19.

They said while the RSPCA was called out to deal with a ‘small number’ of birds affected by the oil spill, there have been no reports of wildlife dying as a result of the pollution.
