Fork lift fire at Amazon depot

FIRE crews were called out to Doncaster’s Amazon depot after a forklift truck went up in flames.

Two fire engines from Doncaster fire station were called to the online retail firm’s warehouse at Balby Carr Bank on Wednesday night after the vehicle caught fire.

Crews used dry powder to extinguish the blaze which was contained to the forklift itself. It is believed the incident may have been sparked by an electrical fault.

The blaze came just two days after so-called Cyber Monday, the company’s busiest day of the year for Christmas shoppers, with more than £500 million expected to be spent online across the UK by shoppers.

The depot, which is the size of six football pitches, is one of eight depots run by Amazon across the country.
