Flood fears to be investigated

roads in the highest part of hilly Dronfield are now prone to flooding during heavy rainfall, the town council has been told.

A resident from the Hilltop Road area told the council that during the heavy rain last week part of the road flooded for the first time.

He had been in touch with North East Derbyshire District Council, Derbyshire County Council and Yorkshire Water after flood water had seeped into garages and threatened to flood homes.

Yorkshire Water said it appeared the flooding had occurred because the main sewer had not been able to cope with the amount of water from the rainstorm.

The resident said: “The highest part of Dronfield is now prone to flooding and it would appear that if there is more very heavy rain our homes could become prone to flooding.”

The town council is to investigate the flooding situation in the Hilltop Road area.
