Fire crews deal with spate of car blazes
FIRE crews had to battle to prevent flames from a Vauxhall Corsa spreading to a house after it was set alight outside.
The car and two bins were found burning on Aston Close, Swallownest, Rotherham, at 3.30am yesterday.
Heat damage was caused to a nearby Renault Megane.
Firefighters from Sheffield were called out the night before to deal with a Honda set alight on Dyche Road, Jordanthorpe and to a burning Renault Espace on Penrith Road, Shirecliffe.
On the same night – Wednesday – firefighters extinguished a blaze in the garden of an empty house on Nethershire Lane, Shiregreen, after a shed was set alight.
And another crew was called out to Phillimore Road, Darnall, after a pile of paper was set alight.
