Fire crews tackle rubbish blaze at unit

Firefighters were called to an industrial unit in Garden Street, Masbrough, Rotherham, after rubbish caught alight.

Four crews were sent to deal with the blaze which broke out at around 1.30pm on Saturday.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were called to a rubbish fire which had started accidentally at an industrial unit in Garden Street, Masbrough.

“We sent four pumps to deal with the incident and we were there for around three and a half hours.

“The crews left just before 5pm.”

Firefighters were also called to Granville Road in Norfolk Park, Sheffield, at 4.20pm on Saturday after a smash involving two cars. They were alerted because smoke was coming from one of the vehicles.

One man was injured.
