Fire crews free Barnsley man from hopper

Fire crews were called to free a man in his 60s who had got stuck in the hopper of a cement mixer in Barnsley.

The incident happened on a construction site in Davey Road, Thurnscoe.

Fire crews from Dearne and Adwick stations were at the scene for around three hours dismantling the hopper in order to free him. It is not known how he got stuck in the hopper. He was taken to hospital by paramedics at 7.15pm on Thursday.
