South Yorkshire roads are getting safer – as new figures reveal a five per cent fall in casualties.

Accident figures from South Yorkshire Police submitted to the Department for Transport show 4,212 people were injured in crashes on the county’s roads in 2013 compared to 4,446 in 2012.

There were 32 fatalities and 449 people seriously injured.
