THOUSANDS of homes in Sheffield are set to benefit from faster internet connections.
BT has expanded its high-speed fibre broadband in Beauchief, Ecclesfield, Wadsley Bridge and Woodhouse. It also plans to upgrade the service for people living in High Green, Rotherham and Goldthorpe in Barnsley.
The firm will take the total number of premises with access to fibre broadband in South Yorkshire to more than 460,000 by next year. Around 296,000 are already able to get the service.
Tom Keeney, BT’s regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “This is another important step forward for South Yorkshire. High-speed digital connectivity is vital to our success. Fibre broadband allows communities to create new opportunities.”
