Door-to-door pedlars caught

Two South Yorkshire men who called at homes without a pedlar’s certificate have had their goods confiscated.

Police were called and caught them in the act after they called at homes in Eyam, Derbyshire, offering household goods for sale.

The men, both from Rotherham, aged 22 and 23, were reported for summons.

PCSO Anthony Boswell, of the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “Door to door selling is legitimate providing traders can provide a valid pedlar’s certificate, which are issued by the police.”
