Diversions will be in place when Cleveland Street is closed to outbound traffic today so Doncaster Council can complete the demolition of a footbridge which was damaged having by a crane on a lorry last Tuesday.

Half of the bridge was knocked down and the remainder of the structure will be removed between 8am and 8pm.

Various equipment will be used to do the work – including a large mobile crane, excavators and breaking equipment, so the public should be aware the work may be noisy at times.

Pedestrian access to the highway side of Rossington House will be restricted.

Gill Gillies, Doncaster Council’s assistant director of regeneration and environment, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this work but we do need to take action to make the area safe.”

The public can follow updates on Twitter @MyDoncaster and on the Council’s website, www.doncaster.gov.uk.
