Hundreds of shoppers and dozens of staff were evacuated from Doncaster’s town centre Primark store at 10.54am this morning.

South Yorkshire Fire appliances from Thorne and Edlington attended the busy market place site after receiving reports of a smell of smoke within the building.

A spokesman said: “Because of this the building was evacuated and an electrician was called in to look at the fuses.”

The store remains closed at this time while the source of the smell is dicovered.
