Doncaster man murdered in East Yorkshire village

A 54-year-old has been charged with murder after a Doncaster man was shot dead in an East Yorkshire village.

Jonathan Smith, 38, from the Doncaster area died from gun shot wounds after the incident on May 20.

Police have charged Peter Guy, 54, of Melton Old Rd, Melton, East Yorkshire in connection with his murder.

He has been remanded in custody and the case will now be heard at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday.

Police officers and paramedics were called to an address in Melton on Tuesday evening after the sound of gunshot was heard.

A 15-year-old boy appeared at Beverley Magistrates’ Court on Friday and has been charged with wounding with intent in connection with the incident.

A third man taken into police custody in connection with the incident has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Police currently remain at the scene of the incident as forensic investigations draw to a close whilst reassurance patrols are expected to remain in place over the weekend.
