CRIME: Crime scene.

CRIME: Crime scene.

DONCASTER is to host a major conference on dealing with the problem of metal theft today.

The Police, Home Office, Serious Organised Crime Agency, UK Border Force are meeting meet private sector companies who are victims of of the crime

The event, at the Holiday Inn, Warmsworth, will include over 100 delegates from throughout Yorkshire. Its purpose is for law enforcement agencies and leading businesses to take stock of the current position in a region that has been a national crime hotspot for metal theft.

David Ransom, Director of the Business Crime Reduction Centre said “Metal theft is an extremely serious crime. Not only does it cause significant financial losses to local businesses but it can also lead to serious injury and death. The recent crackdowns have seen crime figures reduce but there is still more to do. This event will address the importance of tackling metal theft head on.”
