Doncaster family want to know what has happened to missing man

Thomas Christopher Groome, who hasn't been seen since New Year's Day 2010.

Thomas Christopher Groome, who hasn't been seen since New Year's Day 2010.

The Doncaster family of missing man Tommy Groome, now the subject of a police murder investigation, say they are ‘desperate’ to know what has happened to him.

The 47-year-old was last seen alive on New Year’s Day 2010 at his son’s home in Corona Drive, Thorne, when he was supposed to be heading to a new life in Portugal, and was reported missing later the same year.

Souht Yorkshire Police yesterday arrested three men in connection with his disappearance.

Relatives hvae issued a statement, saying: “Tommy Groome’s family in England, his sons, sisters, nieces and nephews are desperate to find out what has happened to Tommy.

“We never believed that he would simply disappear and not keep in touch, this is a difficult time for us, but we hope that the police investigation can find out what has happened to Tommy, because we miss him very much.

“We ask as a family that if any person has any information about Tommy’s disappearance that they contact the police.

“We also ask that while the investigation is progressing that we as a family be given some privacy as we try to come to terms with what is happening.”
